How do contests, brackets and leaderboards work?

Managers create contests and bracket challenges on the dashboard; reps follow standings and the leaderboard in the Ranks tab, ranked by average score, sales or leads.

Roonly has three ways to add competition: a standing leaderboard in the app, time-boxed contests, and bracket challenges that run like a tournament. Managers set up contests and brackets from Contests in the dashboard sidebar; reps see all of it in the Ranks tab.

Contests

Click Create Contest. You can start from a template such as Weekly Hustle, Sales Blitz or Quality Champion, or pick Custom Contest and fill in:

  • Contest Name and an optional Description.
  • Competition Metric: Most Conversations, Most Recordings, Most Talk Time, Most Sales, Most Leads, Highest Average Score, Total Points, Most Roleplays Completed, Most Roleplays Passed, Highest Avg Roleplay Score, Highest Single Roleplay Score or Most Improved.
  • Team, or All Teams.
  • Start Date and End Date.
  • Prize Description and Number of Winners: 1 Winner, Top 3 or Top 5.

A contest is Upcoming until its start time, Active until its end time, then Ended. You can edit an upcoming or active contest, and delete any contest. Standings are computed from conversations in the last 91 days, so keep contests inside that window.

The Contests page shows Active Contests with Current Standings, Upcoming Contests, and Past Contests. An ended contest with a prize sits under Awaiting Payment until you click Mark Paid, which is how reps see a Paid badge in the app.

In the app, the Ranks tab shows each active contest with the time left, the top three, a "You're #N" banner for everyone else, and the prize. Tapping a contest re-sorts the leaderboard by that contest's metric.

Bracket challenges

A bracket pits reps against each other head to head, one matchup per round, until a champion remains. From Create Contest choose Bracket Challenge and step through the wizard:

  1. Basics. Name, description, start date and a duration of 1 to 4 weeks.
  2. Setup. Rep vs Rep or Team vs Team; a bracket size of 4, 8 or 16; a metric of Most Sales, Most Leads, Most Conversations or Highest Avg Score; an optional team filter; whether to include managers; and a prize.
  3. Select. Roonly seeds participants by their last 30 days on the chosen metric. Reorder seeds if you disagree. If you pick fewer reps than the bracket size, top seeds get a bye in round 1.
  4. Matchups. Adjust the round 1 pairings.
  5. Review. Confirm and create.

Rounds split the duration evenly. Roonly updates matchup scores and settles finished rounds automatically twice a day. The rep with the higher metric in the round window advances; a tie goes to the better seed. Team brackets add up every member's numbers.

Managers see each bracket as a card with the round in progress and a View Full Bracket link. Reps see a Bracket Challenges section in Ranks; tapping a card opens the bracket, shows who they are facing, and later shows the Champion. Completed brackets with a prize get the same Mark Paid control as contests.

The leaderboard

The Ranks tab opens on the Leaderboard. Everyone in the company is ranked by average conversation score, with conversations of 30 seconds or less counting for much less so quick rejections do not drag reps down. Filter by Total, Today, Week or Month. Each row shows the rep's level, conversation count and score; tapping a row opens their Avg Score, Conversations, Sales, Rank, total points and achievements.

Reps can turn on push notifications for Position Increase, Position Decrease and New Leader under Settings, Notifications, so a passed teammate finds out.

Where the numbers come from

Contest and leaderboard math uses each conversation's outcome and overall score, so accurate outcomes matter. Reps can correct an outcome from the conversation screen and managers from the dashboard. Roleplay metrics count completed practice sessions and their scores. Unqualified visits on tech teams are left out of average-score rankings.
