How do I practice with AI roleplay?
Pick a scenario from AI Practice or your coaching plan, talk to an AI prospect that pushes back like a real one, and get a score with strengths and areas to improve.
AI roleplay puts you in front of a prospect who is not real but argues like one. You speak, the prospect answers, and at the end Roonly scores the exchange the same way it scores a recorded door. It is the fastest way to rehearse the objection you lost yesterday before you hear it again today.
Where scenarios come from
- AI Practice. On the Train tab, tap AI Practice to open the scenario library. Filter by Openers, Discovery, Objections, Value, Closing or Full Conv. Each card shows a difficulty of Nice, Neutral or Hostile and the opening situation. Managers create these on the dashboard, and Roonly can generate them from the objections your team actually faces.
- Your Coaching Plan. After every scored conversation Roonly looks for patterns. If you have lost the same objection 3 or more times in the last 30 days, or a stage keeps scoring under 60, it adds a card to Your Coaching Plan on the Train tab. Cards are labeled Pattern, Real Moment or Stage Focus and explain why they were added. A Real Moment card quotes the exact line the prospect said. If you have not practiced for 7 days you get a gentle reminder card instead.
- From a manager. Managers can assign a scenario to you or generate a personalized one from your weak spots. It appears with a Manager Assigned badge.
- From a conversation. A low-scoring conversation offers Practice This Conversation, which builds a scenario from that exact call. See the try-again article.
The Home tab also shows a Training Focus card with your top pending suggestion and Start and Later buttons. Later hides it from Home only; the X on a Train tab card dismisses a suggestion for good.
Before you start
Tap a scenario and read the setup screen:
- What to Practice describes the situation.
- Practice Mode toggles between Goals Mode, which ends once you hit your goals, and Full Sale, which expects you to carry the conversation through the close. Goals Mode is the default and is quicker.
- Your Goals lists what a passing attempt needs to include.
- From Your Conversation appears on Real Moment cards, with the prospect's line, your original response and its score.
- Previous Attempts shows earlier scores; tap one to see its strengths and areas to improve.
Tap Start Practice. Roleplay uses live training minutes, and your company's plan may cap them; if you see Roleplay Limit Reached, ask your manager.
During the session
The prospect speaks first. Answer out loud as you would at the door. The screen shows Prospect Speaking while the AI talks and Your Turn when it is listening, along with a timer and the last line it heard from you. In Goals Mode a banner may appear when the AI thinks you have hit every goal, with Keep Going and End Session buttons. You can switch between Goals Mode and Full Sale mid-session by tapping the mode pill.
Tap End when you are done. Leaving with the X abandons the attempt without a score.
Your results
The app shows Analyzing Your Session, then a results screen with your score out of 100, a short summary, the XP earned, Strengths and Areas to Improve. A score of 80 or higher on a coaching-plan scenario marks that suggestion complete and shows a Skill Completed ribbon. Closing the deal in Full Sale mode earns a You Closed the Deal banner and extra XP.
Difficulty matters for XP: Neutral and Hostile prospects pay more than Nice ones, and a score of 90 or higher pays a bonus.
Tips
- Say full sentences. The scorer grades what you said, not what you meant.
- Run the same scenario twice in a row. The second attempt is where the improvement shows.
- Use Hostile only after you pass Neutral; a wall of objections is not useful practice until the basics are solid.
